Miss African Spirit Contestants:

From Nigeria...

Adenike Soetan

Profession/ Education: Student (College/Post 16)

UGPulse.com asked the contestants 3 questions...

With the state of the global economy today, what opportunities are out there for African nations and how do you think they should grab and take advantage of those opportunities?

There are many opportunities for African nations. For example, in Nigeria they have their own resources such as gold and oil as well as produce like cocoa & groundnut. I think they could take advantage of this by using the oil to generate electricity in the land and save money. Also, they can use their produce to feed the nation instead of importing food. This applies to other nations such as Ghana who have Gold, and Sierra Leone who have diamonds. I also think that African nations should trade their produce and resources with each other to save money.

What is the African Spirit... How do you live it?... How do you share it?

I think the African spirit is just something natural that grows in Africans that love their background. The African spirit is being proud to stand out amongst the crowd and say ‘I AM AFRICAN & I LOVE IT’ loud and proud. Living the African spirit is sharing your culture and allowing others to be aware of how amazing it is to be African.  It is also basically just being a good person inside and out. Being a leader, being charitable, being helpful to everyone around you and doing your part in the community are all factors that embody African spirit.

Are you beautiful? Can you share your beauty secret to your fellow African sisters?

YES! We are all beautiful and I think the main point in being beautiful is believing you are. Being beautiful to me is loving yourself and taking care of yourself as well as being comfortable in your own skin! To my fellow African sisters- YOU’RE ALL BEAUTIFUL! Another part of being beautiful is being a good person. However, I think appearance is very important and taking care of every part of your body- both inside and out is important.
